Photograph is among core knowledge resources for architectural (design) education, its pedagogy, professional (design) practice in architecture, (critical) architectural his/herstory and scientific research in the field. With this awareness,
it has been an essential part of my architecture to take architectural, interior and landscape photographs s
ince the first year of my architectural design education. While improving my visual literacy in architectural discipline, I took several courses and participated in several seminars on photography.
My lens aims to reflect creative and noteworthy design characteristics of tectonic and structural solutions, details, materials, interior and exterior spatial organizations of architectural buildings in a clear way. With my Nikon, my current focal points are architectural buildings, interior and landscape design projects/implementations with their climate responsive, (natural) disaster-resistant, social justice and inclusive strategies.
.
I also value inclusive and diverse content development of “visual knowledge resources” and "digital image archives" on design-centered disciplines to support studies and design projects by learning, teaching, teaching and professional communities in architecture, interior, landscape, urban design, etc.
.
As of March 2025, my comprehensive collection consists of "2171" published, high quality architectural, interior and landscape photographs. (887 photographs published by "
SAH Archipedia", authoritative online encyclopedia of the U.S. built environment organized by the Society of Architectural Historians and the University of Virginia Press, and 1284 photographs published by SAHARA: Society of Architectural Historians Architecture Resources (digital) Archive, developed by collaboration with JSTOR / ITHAKA and funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
In addition, I have over 80 high quality architectural and interior photographs published by Boyut Contemporary World and Turkish architects monograph series accessible at academic libraries of MIT, Harvard and Columbia universities, and by several architectural journals.
My (published and unpublished) photographs are mostly from modern and contemporary architecture with cutting-edge, innovative examples, interior and landscape design within and around Cambridge, MA, Boston and the East Coast (with a strong focus on university campuses and schools of architecture).

In architecture, some of my favorite photographers are Ezra Stoller (1915-2004) whose images define Mid-Century Modernism as a creative and aesthetic art form with clarity, in particular architectural structures and compositions designed by Eero Saarinen, Mies van der Rohe and SOM; Balthazar Korab (1926–2013) with his outstanding architectural and landscape photographs documenting some iconic examples of modern architecture; Julius Shulman (1910-2009) for his iconic shots of California Mid-century modern and some remarkable structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Charles Eames, Richard Neutra and Hélène Binet (1959-present) whose architectural photographs zoom in some hiding parts of a space to reveal new qualities instead of grand structures and well-known with her shots of some pioneering contemporary architects, such as Zaha Hadid, Peter Zumthor and Daniel Libeskind. Recently, with a great interest, I have been also reading on Harold "Doc" Edgerton and his innovative techniques in photography.
In addition to architecture, Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004), a French humanist photographer and a master of candid photography and Ara Güler (1928-2018), “the Eye of Istanbul” are some pioneering lens for me.
